Toodyay Getaway Guide
Toodyay is a historic town in the Avon Valley, just over an hour’s drive from Perth. It’s an easy weekend away, with heritage buildings, river walks and country hospitality. Start here to plan your trip, from what to see and do to where to stay, eat and drink.

Day trip
Start with a coffee and a famous pie from the bakery on Stirling Terrace, then wander the main street’s historic buildings and shops. Visit Connor’s Mill and Newcastle Gaol, then stretch your legs on a section of the Bilya Walk Track along the Avon River before the drive home.
Weekend away
Stay a night or two and slow down. Spend Saturday on the heritage sites and the Living History Walk Trails, then enjoy dinner at one of the historic pubs on Stirling Terrace. On Sunday, take a riverside walk, ride the miniature railway (1st and 3rd Sundays) or browse the Farmers Market (3rd Sunday of the month), then have a long breakfast before heading home.
Longer stay
Use Toodyay as a base for the Avon Valley. Walk the Bilya Walk Track and the bushland reserves, go stargazing under clear country skies, take a scenic drive to Culham Church or Cobbler Pool, or float over the valley on a hot air balloon flight. A longer stay also gives you the best light for photography.
Seasonal Tip - Late winter and spring are lovely, with canola turning the paddocks yellow in late August and early September.
